Facemasks
During the Corona pandemic Tom was very sad that governments decided to start promoting silver and titanium particles to give anti-bacterial characteristics to facemasks. Scienctific studies like https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9886386/ also confirmed the statement that facemasks treated with metal substances are safe.
Tom discovered facemasks that were anti-bacterial without harmful ingredients. Nano silicon (CAS 7440-21-3) is the inorganic substance used to make the facemask anti-bacterial and is safe on the ECHA list. In addition the Nano silicon particles are bonded very strongly to the 3 cotton layers of the facemask so that it cannot be inhaled by the wearer.
Anti-bacterial characteristics – Test institute Intertek tested the Anti-bacterial characteristics of the facemasks. 99,90% of all bacteria were killed after contact with the surface of the treated cotton. Click on the below links to access the test results:
Protection against small particles – Together with TNO we tested the protection level of the facemask. It appeared it has a slightly lower protection than a surgical mask especially when testing the protection against 1 μm particles. This shows it has protection benefits to wear the facemask when there is a virus hazard. When protecting against allergenes such as 20-30 μm grass pollen or dust mites facemasks proved to be a good solution to minimize the risk of allergic reactions. No harmful substances – The manufacturer provided following test results for 65 California listed substances and REACH substances and no harmful substances were found. Click on the below links to access the test results:
